Can you dress gothic and girly at the same time?

I like dark things like skulls and dead roses and cemetaries. I used to dress emo and gothic but it scared the crap out of my parents. So is there a way i can dress girly but emo/goth? No rude comments please.

If you think about it goth is actually girly just darker colors.
Maybe if you brighten up some colors your good.
Look at some girls at school you can get some ideas and in fashion magazines. In some fashion magazines they have looks that are girly but are edgy at the same time.
I wish good luck to you during this crisis (LOL).
    Hope I’ve helped!

Avril Lavigne in her music video of Girlfriend is a good example. She’s wearing a white shirt with a skull on it and a navy skirt with fish net leggings, knee high socks and black converse. . . Just watch her newer videos from the best **** thing album.
    Hope I helped!

I’ve attached some pictures below to help give you some inspiration and ideas as to how you can still be emo and gothic, whilst still being girly. Also, you could add your own personal touch to them e. g. a skull necklace or a rose brooch. After all, it is your own style and you shouldn’t have to compromise on that.

I’m really sorry if some of the links do not work for you but i hope they help!

    P. S. I love skulls as well! :)

Girly huh? They might have an easier time with victorian and neo-victorian outfits then since that’s all about skirts, dresses, petticoats, lace, ruffles- all the stereotypical feminine stuff but in dark colors.

To keep them on their game you could use a lot of non-black colors like dark greens, dark browns, grays in addition to black.

Or for something more practical, try using more broomstick skirts, tiered skirts, pixie cut skirts, gypsy skirts.

Some parents just can’t handle nets & spikes.

I always teeter-totter between two different styles. Most of the time I lean toward the Victorian/Lolita style, but sometimes I get the urge to go for a male vampire look, I’m not sure why, but I’m guessing my bisexuality has something to do with it.

Most of the clothes I wear are skirts and dresses, so if that’s girly for you, it should be easy. Just dress pretty and with dark clothing, if that’s what you want to do, and go easy on the makeup and jewelry/accessories. Wear “normal” makeup and ONE accessory/jewelry. It doesn’t have to be the same one every time, just don’t wear more than ONE, and do that for a month.

After one month, add ONE makeup item and ONE accessory to the mix. Again, it doesn’t have to be the same ones each time, just make sure the total number of accessories you wear doesn’t go past TWO. Do that for another month.

Keep going up this ladder gradually. It’ll wean your parents and won’t shock them.

yes of course it is, many gothic style are very roimantic looking, there is no one set look it’s how you mix it up or choose to wear it.

first of all. . . emo and goth are completely different. shame on you for lumping us together.

secondly, of course! most girls love wearing corsets, petticoats, brightly coloured skirts, and stockings. Well, at least I do. Good for you, though, not wanting to frighten your parents. Most teenagers that want to try the goth scene do it for the shock factor.

I’m “goth” But i personally have my own style. . . some days i wear a corset, other days i wear jeans and hoodies.

Girly goths wear skirts, corsets, and not necessarily black or dark tones. I wear colors. I love colors; especially neon green.

goth isn’t all about the drab dark and sad side.
There are so many happy goths and styles. . .
cyber goth is the category i get placed in as i love colors, glitter and all that hard dance music

i think you need to find a style suited to your personality not what is in or what not.

I had the same problem with my parents.

I stayed the same and they learned 2 deal with it.

But if you really wanna change then just add colour, you can still luk emo/goth just wear like a brightly coloured t-shirt.

    Hope that helps. XP
