Anytime i watch a show (reality/drama/comedy. . . . . . ) of an american middle/high school, it seems that they are more interested in school clubs & activities than actual studying. I mean, it’s like americans schools only do activities. . . . . cheerleading, proms, school dance, football. . . . etc
If they’re not doing that, it seems they’re labelling people as jocks, goths, emo’s. . . etc & the kids that are focused on their school work are labelled as geeks, nerds, freaks or whatever. Are american schools just social gatherings or really places of learning??
Do american kids actually learn anything in their schools?

it depends on the school, but most of them are nothing like the movies. i know i learn things at my school.

well my 17 y/o sister (in law) is a senior and she is studying advanced calculus, advanced physics, advanced french and she is really smart so i think they are learning something more of them are going to college then previous generations.
I agree, I am from USA, and all they were teaching us here in science was stuff like “what concrete and abstract means” They are more like social gatherings because when I told people at my school that I was going to be homeschooled they said “but then how will you see your friends” here we dont have exams that test your entire knowlage of the year, instead we have small tests, so you only have to do little chunks at a time and then you can forget it
I started homeschooling now and my books are from india, they teach you more stuff that is usefull. Like chemistry and biology and physics especially. Their level of learning is learning about twice as much as they teach here. And that is why indians are so smart. I have to study a lot for my exams comming up in a year and I have to go to india for them
So in 20 years when america will become behind of other countries like china, and india, we will be scratching our heads wondering why
You’re basing your opinion off of a t. v. show? Seriously?
Would you actually watch a TV show about American kids studying? Wouldn’t be much of a show. Would that make you think that they’re smart if you did see that? Wise up.
